Thanks to everyone who has taken part this season. If there are any parents who are inspired by their children, seniors track session is every Thursday at 7.30pm.
Membership Secretary Mon, 04 Mar 2024 13:55:40 +0000 http://www.smrac.org.uk/news/trent_park_met_league http://www.smrac.org.uk/news/trent_park_met_league Welwyn Met League
We had a smaller team than last time, with injuries, illness and competition load taking their toll but it was a fun event with the surface surprisingly good for running, particularly compared to last year's race at Welwyn. The senior's course also turned out to be 0.5km longer than last year which was a bit of a surprise for amongst others the team manager!

It was another strong performance from the U13 girls team, taking 1st, 3rd and 21st. With four 1st place finishes, Ellina is now guaranteed to be the overall season winner in the U13 girls. The junior women's team of had their best result of the season, coming in 7th, including a strong 12th. Our final women's representative, ran solo in the senior/ U20s race, coming in 7th U20.

The junior men's team had individual performances of 40th, 52nd and 71st (36th U15).

Finally, in the senior men's race, Trevor won the battle of the old men by 5 secs, finishing 17th in the V55, his highest finish of the season.

The final Met League race is on Saturday 10th February. We are usually a bit light in numbers for this fixture so it would be great to get as many as possible running.
Membership Secretary Tue, 16 Jan 2024 17:14:33 +0000 http://www.smrac.org.uk/news/welwyn_met_league http://www.smrac.org.uk/news/welwyn_met_league Uxbridge Met League
We had our largest team of the season so far, with 22 athletes taking on the Uxbridge course, despite losing a few people to injury and illness (including the team manager!). We had some excellent results:

Once again, the U13 girls led the way, winning the team result, thanks to a 3rd individual win of the season, a 2nd, 3rd and 26th.

The junior women's team, came in 33rd, 34th and 37th. With a couple of the team running their first Met League races this season.

Our largest senior women's team of the season put together great runs meaning that we came 3rd overall in Division 3, including a 7th in the U20.

The club also had teams in the junior men's and senior men's race. In the junior men's, following up a win at Wormwood Scrubs was a 2nd place and first U15, as well as a 3rd + 6th U15, all contributing to the team finishing 2nd overall, which is excellent for a team mainly comprising U15s. We had enough athletes to score a B team result, coming 18th overall.

Finally, in the men's race, there were senior debuts from two of the team and the three U20s were the 6th, 9th and 11th U20s. In addition with a 20th in the M55 category, overall the men's team came 4th in Division 3.
Membership Secretary Tue, 16 Jan 2024 17:08:56 +0000 http://www.smrac.org.uk/news/uxbridge_met_league http://www.smrac.org.uk/news/uxbridge_met_league Wormwood Scrubs Met League
We were a smallish team once again due to a combination of injuries and school commitments but we definitely punched above our weight, so well done to everyone who took part. We had an incredible 3 1st places and a 2nd place: with a 1st place in the U11s girls race by a huge 13 seconds, once again a 1st and 2nd in the U13 girls race who as part of a team of 4 won the U13s team race, and the U15/U17 boys race saw a 1st place for SMRAC despite being from an U15. Our debutant senior ladies, all ran well in their age groups including an excellent 16th place.. Well done to all other athletes including Coach Trevor and Team Manager Jim!

The next race is in 3 week's time at Uxbridge/ Hillingdon (Race HQ is at Hillingdon AC) on Saturday 2nd December. For senior athletes there's the fun of running twice up the ski slope and twice through the stream - an experience not to be missed!
Membership Secretary Tue, 14 Nov 2023 11:25:51 +0000 http://www.smrac.org.uk/news/wormwood_scrubs_met_league http://www.smrac.org.uk/news/wormwood_scrubs_met_league AGM, Christmas Party + Awards
The club AGM has been announced for Saturday 25th November at 6.15pm, at Brouge Gastropub

In addition, the Christmas Party + Awards, including a 2 course Christmas Dinner will be held on the same date, and at the same location, at 7pm.

Please look for the email sent on 19th October for more information.
